A University of Leeds report has revealed the global reduction in travel and industrial activity is doing little to stop global warming

A University of Leeds report has revealed the global reduction in travel and industrial activity is doing little to stop global warming

Scientists have calculated the recent reductions may only result in climate cooling of point zero zero five to point zero one percent.

However, the findings also suggest that if governments pursue a 'green recovery' from the pandemic, then global warming could possibly be kept within 1.5 °C above pre-industrial levels by 2050.

Climate Change Commission's Catherine Leining says we can't afford to repeat our past.

She says during the global financial crisis global emissions fell by 1.4 per cent in 2009 but rebounded by 5.1 per cent in 2010 because governments used fossil fuel based technologies to recover.
