Hopes pay disputes between the firefighters union and Fire and Emergency can be resolved

Hopes pay disputes between the firefighters union and Fire and Emergency can be resolved

They are trying to re-establish collective bargaining, with plans for a mutually agreed third party to help the process.

Labour Mana MP Barbara Edmonds says she's planning to visit Porirua fire crews tomorrow, to hear their concerns.

She says it's going to be a really good discussion to see what help they can provide - but they also need the two parties to get back around the table.

National Party Deputy Leader Nicola Willis says the Internal Affairs Minister needs to get involved.

She says it's an issue that Jan Tinetti needs to be more hands on about and make sure they're properly supported.
