ANZ is warning customers to keep an eye out for scams after a recent spike

ANZ is warning customers to keep an eye out for scams after a recent spike

The bank says they've seen recent cases of scammers pretending to be ANZ staff who have found suspicious transactions and then asking customers to transfer money to a safe account.

Personal Banking Managing Director Ben Kelleher says ANZ will never ask customers to do this or give out personal information over the phone.

He says if people think they are on the phone with a scammer there's an easy way to be safe.

Kelleher says people should pause and have a check and then hang up.
