The farming sector's calling for limits around the conversion of whole farms for carbon credits

The farming sector's calling for limits around the conversion of whole farms for carbon credits

Beef and Lamb's new research reveals more than 51 thousand hectares have been sold since the end of 2022.

It estimates almost one million stock units are lost for every 100-thousand hectares planted.

Chair Kate Ackland says the sheep and beef sector's massively reduced its emissions and warming impacts - but losing so much stock is unsustainable.

She says the wholesale exotic planting is negatively affecting the biodiversity and amenity values of our farming landscapes.
