Hopes prolonged challenges stressing retailers - will start easing next year

Hopes prolonged challenges stressing retailers - will start easing next year

New Stats NZ Electronic Card transaction figures show spending fell year on year in October by 1.1 percent.

It fell 5.6 percent annually in September.

Retail NZ Chief Executive, Carolyn Young, says 70-percent of survey participants didn't meet sales targets in the July-to-September quarter.

But Young says they're hoping 2025 will be stronger - and the challenge is the time between now and next year's first quarter.
