Auckland mayoral chief of staff, Jazz Singh, has quit today

Auckland mayoral chief of staff, Jazz Singh, has quit today

Singh didn't declare the liquidation of his property company - owing Inland Revenue 560-thousand dollars.

He's leaving Wayne Brown's office but will remain at the council, working on projects for Chief Executive Phil Wilson.

Brown asked Wilson to look into the situation this month.

Wilson says everything was above board from a business point of view - but Singh should have disclosed the liquidation to himself and the mayor.

Tamsyn Matchett will become acting Chief of Staff.
