Boxing Day sales look to be on par with expectations

Boxing Day sales look to be on par with expectations

Official data is still to come, but Retail NZ says members of its network are pleased with how they fared yesterday.

It says stores reported strong foot traffic.

Chief Executive, Carolyn Young says while chain-stores do have sales throughout the year, major events like Boxing Day still have a place.

She says it's the key sales period for small independent stores -- particularly in provincial areas -- who don't have specials every other week.
