Stats NZ data shows the cost of a 500-gram block of butter has nearly doubled since early last year.
And recently - a block of semi-soft butter's been selling in a supermarket priced over 18-dollars.
Consumer NZ Chief Executive Jon Duffy says premium product prices - are pretty inflated.
He says, even then, normal butter is around the 10-dollar mark.
