The Reserve Bank may have to step in and use interest rate hikes to cool inflation

Inflation was outside the target band in the December quarter.
Infometrics Chief Executive Brad Olsen says November is the most likely time for an increase, but one could come in May.
He says it will need to counter-balance past decisions.
He says cuts below 3 percent were uncomfortable.
