Advice so New Zealanders can get more bang for their buck when buying bread - as food price inflation lifts

The food price inflation rate is now 4.6 percent in January, up from four-percent a month ago.
The price of fruit and vegetables has jumped 6.3 percent in the last year, while the cheapest loaf of white bread has risen almost 60-percent.
Baking Industry Association President Bernie Sugrue says says locally-made artisan loaves from bakeries are much more substantial.
He says each slice of a 1-kilogram loaf of sourdough will be a lot more dense than the 600-gram loaf that's risen by 60-percent.
