Retired Australian test cricketer Stuart MacGill has been named as the victim of an alleged Sydney kidnapping and extortion attempt

MacGill was allegedly confronted by a man on Sydney's north shore on the night of April 14th.

Two other men arrived and helped force him into a car before driving him to Sydney's southwest, where he was threatened with a firearm.

An hour later MacGill was driven to Belmore and released.

Four men have been arrested in connection with the incident.
