Cricket fans may be looking to the heavens above Bay Oval for help this evening

Cricket fans may be looking to the heavens above Bay Oval for help this evening

It seems there's little chance of a full match taking place in the second Twenty20 men's international between the Black Caps and Australia.

Light rain has fallen over the Mount Maunganui venue for most of the day, and the covers are on.

A washout would end any hopes of New Zealand winning back the Chappell-Hadlee trophy, which Australia has held since 20-20.
