Alex Maloney's determined to make amends for a disappointing finish at the last 49er FX World Championships, ahead of this year's event in Auckland

Alex Maloney's determined to make amends for a disappointing finish at the last 49er FX World Championships, ahead of this year's event in Auckland

The kiwi alongside partner Molly Meech managed eighth at last year's regatta in Aarhus , a stark contrast to their typical finishes around the podium.

Maloney says the result was a wake-up call that has since helped them improve.

The pair will compete in the Oceania Championships starting Monday, ahead of the World Championships a week later, both in Auckland.
