Black Caps coach Rob Walter believes it's too simplistic to claim Will O'Rourke's stress fracture in his back has been borne out of too much cricket

Black Caps coach Rob Walter believes it's too simplistic to claim Will O'Rourke's stress fracture in his back has been borne out of too much cricket

The pace bowler will be sidelined for at least three months - he'll miss the white ball series against Australia, England and the West Indies.

O'Rourke picked up the injury in the first test against Zimbabwe in July - after playing most of the home summer for New Zealand, as well as the Indian Premier League, and county cricket for Yorkshire.

Walter says unfortunately, stress fractures are all too common with fast bowlers.
