Championship leader Lando Norris and teammate Oscar Piastri have been disqualified from the Las Vegas Grand Prix in a setback to the McLaren duo's title bids

Championship leader Lando Norris and teammate Oscar Piastri have been disqualified from the Las Vegas Grand Prix in a setback to the McLaren duo's title bids

The team has apologised for the technical infringements that caused the ousting after Norris finished runner-up to Max Verstappen and Piastri settled for fourth.

The pair were stripped of their results more than four hours after the race finished.

Stewards found the rearmost skids underneath the cars were less than the nine-millimetre minimum thickness required, giving them what was deemed an unfair advantage.

Norris's championship lead has been trimmed to 24 points, with Verstappen moving to equal second alongside Piastri with two rounds remaining at Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
