Jakara Anthony wins dual moguls gold at 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics

Jakara Anthony achieves Winter Olympic redemption, claiming a stunning gold medal in the women's dual moguls.

Jakara Anthony has delivered Winter Olympic redemption, claiming a stunning gold medal in the dual moguls at the Milano Cortina Games.

It is her second Olympic title following the gold she won in Beijing four years ago.

There was a sense of relief on her face as she accepted her medal, beaming widely as she sang along to Advance Australia Fair.

Overwhelmingly the best moguls skier on the tour over the past four years, the victory is a fitting triumph for her sustained excellence.

After stunningly missing a medal in the moguls competition earlier this week, Anthony knew coming away from these Games without a medal would have been a shocking upset.

And when the pressure was on, the Barwon Heads skier was absolutely flawless.

The Australian beat American moguls silver medallist Jaelin Kauf in the Big Final, after accounting for gold medallist Elizabeth Lemley in the semi.

She also beat American Olivia Giaccio in the quarterfinals despite an unnecessarily tight judging decision.

Such was the quality of Anthony's skiing in the dramatic head-to-head format, there was little doubt she would come out on top of all the duals she entered.

With snow dusting the course and the light flat, plenty of athletes spun off, including Australian Charlotte Wilson, whose error allowed teammate Emma Bosco to progress.

Bosco came unstuck against Kauf despite a perfectly admirable run in the quarterfinals as the American made a bid to improve on her moguls silver from earlier in the week.

But all the while, Anthony was meting out her own form of redemptive vengeance on the other side of side of the draw.

Anthony is Australia's first ever two-time Winter Olympic gold medallist and without doubt writes herself into Australian sporting history.

It is Australia's third gold medal in as many days and fourth total medal of the Games so far.
