Grant Robertson's defending keeping Auckland's borders closed one more week

Grant Robertson's defending keeping Auckland's borders closed one more week

People will be able to travel out of the city from next Wednesday, with a My Vaccine Pass or negative Covid test.

At a Finance and Expenditure Committee, National Party MP Simon Watts asked the Finance Minister why he doesn't reopen the Auckland border today - with the city's economy so badly impacted by lockdown.

Robertson says the Government stands by its approach.

He says it's supported Auckland businesses significantly but has an obligation to the whole country to move forward carefully.
