Some relief for Auckland businesses, as a new safety initiative is unveiled

Auckland Council is teaming up with Police and community leaders, to provide a more visible safety presence on central city streets.

Heart of the City says with security programmes costing more than 100-thousand dollars per month to run, this is much needed.

CEO Viv Beck says they're now optimistic about the next step -- getting more police on the streets.

She says Police are the number one thing that ensures people fail safe, and will assist with preventing crime and ensuring faster responses.
