Many are still coming to terms with the death of Green MP Efeso Collins

Many are still coming to terms with the death of Green MP Efeso Collins

The 49-year-old died after collapsing at a charity event in Auckland yesterday.

Parliament has adjourned until Tuesday -- and the Green Party has approached the Speaker about having some bereavement leave for some of its MPs.

The country hasn't seen a current MP die while the House has been sitting, for about 50 years.

Collins is set to be replaced by Lawrence Xu-Nan , who ran in the Epsom electorate for the Greens at the election.

Meanwhile with Greens co-leader James Shaw set to retire from politics soon, Dunedin's Francisco Hernandez is next on the list to replace him.

Celia Wade-Brown has just come in, to fill the gap left by the departure of Golriz Ghahraman.
