Heated debate over potential changes to insulation and double glazing regulation

Heated debate over potential changes to insulation and double glazing regulation

MBIE's been asked to look into H1 requirements in the building code, introduced last year to keep new builds warmer and dryer.

Building and construction Minister Chris Penk says residential building costs have soared, and the requirement is too expensive.

But Labour's Arena Williams says it is about reducing heating costs, and keeping people healthy.

She says if scrapped, it will be a short term saving at the expense of Kiwi's weekly budgets and health.
