    Olympic rowing champion Mahe Drysdale is set to be Tauranga's next mayor


    With 82 percent of the vote counted he has a five thousand vote lead.

    The mayor will lead nine councillors for the first time since Commissioners were brought in in 2021.

    More results will be released this afternoon and then the final results will be out next week.

    The Mayor and the councillors will take over from the Commissioners on August 2nd.
