First steps are locked in for delivering a Government campaign promise to fund more cancer drugs

First steps are locked in for delivering a Government campaign promise to fund more cancer drugs

Pharmac says from October, Keytruda will be funded for eligible people with five different types of cancer - at different points in their treatment.

Prime Minister Chris Luxon says from November, the drug buying agency will fund Opdivo - which treats kidney cancer.

He says it's expected about 600 extra eligible people will have access to the two drugs in the first year -- and more than two thousand in the first five years.
