Wellington City Council has agreed NOT to sell its airport shares

The decision was contentious - with debate over excluding non-elected mana whenua representatives from the vote, despite being on the council's Long Term Plan committee.

Council narrowly voted in support of an attempt to derail the planned sale.

Mayor Tory Whanau says the whole process became messy.
