It's thought the Treaty Principles Bill will continue to be dead in the water

It's thought the Treaty Principles Bill will continue to be dead in the water

The controversial bill was introduced to the Parliament this week.

The Prime Minister has said his party won't support it past the select committee stage.

Herald Political reporter Adam Pearse says the Prime Minister won't even be in the country for its first reading this week.

He says he will be putting distance between himself and the bill by flying to Peru for the APEC summit.

Pearse says it will be important for him to meet with world leaders just after the US election.
