Woolworths says it is New Zealand's tax-system which is putting its prices above the rest

Woolworths says it is New Zealand's tax-system which is putting its prices above the rest

The supermarket chain has released a paper which suggests our products would be lower than Australia and the UK if GST were excluded.

It made the comparison using core grocery items like milk, fruit, meat, and hygiene products.

Woolworths Managing Director Pieter De Wet says he wants the public to know the truth about the sector.

He says the other markets don't have as much GST on the core grocery items that were compared.
