Promises from the Labour Party, following pay equity rallies across the country today

Promises from the Labour Party, following pay equity rallies across the country today

Changes to the system were implemented in May, raising the threshold to lodge claims and putting unresolved claims on pause.

More than 20 events have been held from Whangarei to Invercargill today, involving more than 10,000 people in total.

New Zealand Council of Trade Unions Vice President Rachel Mackintosh says claims that would have lifted pay for more than 180,000 people have been cancelled.

She says the Labour Party has pledged to restore the funding, if elected next year.
