Wellington Mayor Andy Foster may soon know what's in store for the David Jones building

Wellington Mayor Andy Foster may soon know what's in store for the David Jones building

The Australian retail giant has been operating in Lambton Quay since 2016, in the former home of Kirkcaldie and Stains.

It announced in February it's closing next June, shifting to a greater digital presence.

Mayor Andy Foster says he's been in discussions with the building owners around its future to ensure a hole isn't left there..

He's not sure if it'll remain one store or become multiple shops but wants to see the site stay alive.
