New Zealanders privacy may be at stake, with planned congestion charging

The Government is introducing legislation to let councils charge motorists using busy routes during rush-hour.
University of Auckland's Professor Tana Pistorius says the system will gather huge amounts of data.
She says it could infringe on individual privacy if the data is used for analytics, crime tracking or prediction.
Professor Pistorius says there's a risk of excessive data collection and retention, raising the question of whether it breaches the Privacy Act.
