The aged care sector says staff need to be paid properly

The aged care sector says staff need to be paid properly

The Government cancelled dozens of active Pay Equity claims and raised the bar - with a Bill rushed in under urgency with no consultation, to free up money.

Women's professions are historically undervalued and underpaid - so most affected.

A People's Select Committee of former Parliamentarians is examining the change.

Aged Care Association head, Tracey Martin, says it's damaged the Government relationship with the sector.

She says it shows arrogance and a lack of understanding of the effects of the policy.
