    It could be 15 years before a troubled Christchurch psychiatric hospital gets a rebuild


    Hillmorton Hospital was dragged into the limelight for all the wrong reasons last year - with high profile staff assaults making headlines.

    The Canterbury District Health Board has now signed off on a new plan - for the site.

    CEO David Meates says a full rebuild is on the cards - but construction is expected to take 10 to 15 years.

    He says this is because of the complex range of business cases they'll need to develop - for each new mental health facility on the campus.
