The Cancer Society wants to see border restrictions eased for patients being treated in Australia

Cook Islands Deputy Prime Minister Mark Brown's called for similar easy so patients in his country, can be treated in New Zealand.

Cancer Society chief executive Lucy Elwood says there are some treatments not provided here, like radioisotope therapy - and they weren't accessible during lockdown.

She says it's great it's happening again, but 14 days of isolation can be hard for immuno-compromised people.

Elwood thinks the border operations don't properly consider people's health needs.
