There are no new cases of Covid-19 to report in the community today -- and one case in managed isolation

There are no new cases of Covid-19 to report in the community today -- and one case in managed isolation

A person who arrived in Auckland on Thursday -- on a flight from South Africa via Qatar -- has tested positive during routine day one testing.

The latest case comes on top of nine MIQ cases reported yesterday -- from people who also arrived on Thursday, on flights from the US via Qatar, and India via the United Arab Emirates.

Covid-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins says Auckland's latest Covid-19 cluster appears to be contained -- and these latest MIQ cases aren't unexpected.

He says cases will continue to be picked up in managed isolation facilities for some time to come.

New Zealand now has 73 active cases -- and a total of two-thousand and 43 confirmed cases of Covid-19.

Almost seven-thousand tests were carried out yesterday, and more than 70-thousand tests have been carried out over the past seven days.

Since the start of the year, there have now been 37 historical cases, out of a total of 233 cases.
