Kiwis are being urged not to get too carried away by today's 14 community cases

Kiwis are being urged not to get too carried away by today's 14 community cases

All are in Auckland, and only one case hasn't been linked to the outbreak.

Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield says today's tally is encouraging, but they expect the numbers to bounce around.

He says that's based on the number of close household contacts already in isolation, likely to have spread it to others in their bubble.

One new case is from the Whakatiwai household infected by a remand prisoner with Covid.

Nearly 500 swabs were taken in the area yesterday, with all results negative so far.

Overall there are 15 people in hospital, four in ICU.
