Calls for National to honour its pre-election commitment to blood cancer patients in the wake of a new report

Calls for National to honour its pre-election commitment to blood cancer patients in the wake of a new report

A Cancer Control Agency report found as of January, 24 medicines for 42 different treatments were available in Australia, but not here.

Pharmac has since funded four of the medicines, for six different uses.

Leukaemia and Blood Cancer Chief Executive Tim Edmonds says when National promised to fund 13 cancer drugs -- it said it wouldn't forget blood cancer patients.

He says they said once this report was available, they could then act -- so he's anticipating there will be a plan and certainty provided to blood cancer patients.
