An infectious disease expert's advising we don't need to fear another pandemic - over a virus surging in China

Human Meta-Pneumo-Virus or HMPV is spreading in Northern China, prompting alarm online.

Similar to RSV with cold-like symptoms, Chinese authorities are urging people to take precautions.

But infectious disease physician Sanjaya Senanayake says the risk of a Covid-like outbreak is low.

He says it's an infection we've been exposed to often in the past, and people will recover.
