Hauora Taiwhenua Rural Health Network's hoping the launch of new training hubs will lead to a much needed workforce boost

Hauora Taiwhenua Rural Health Network's hoping the launch of new training hubs will lead to a much needed workforce boost

This week the Government announced a first Rural Training Hub to based in South Taranaki, involving the rural hospital in Hawera, general practices and other region providers.

The Network's CEO Dr Grant Davidson, says research shows training people in rural settings means they're six times more likely to stay for work.

He says the right settings could be the long term answer to the current staffing issues.

The Network says three more Hubs will launch by the end of the year.
