    DHBs spent over a quarter billion dollars treating patients prescribed wrong drugs

    District Health Boards have spent more than 280-million dollars treating patients who've been prescribed the wrong drugs over the past three years


    The Herald reports in one case, a patient died after being given drugs that shouldn't be used together.

    Otago University senior lecturer, Hamish Jamieson, says it's not a DHB problem, it's an international one.

    He says people are living 25 years longer, and medication side effects are becoming more prominent.
