Younger Kiwis are ending up in hospital with Covid, on average

We have 79 new community cases today ... most in Auckland, 33 of them unlinked - and four in Waikato.

Northland has no new cases.

The average age of people in hospital with Covid is now 45, but over the past fortnight it was 38.

The Ministry of Health says only six percent of hospital admissions in the outbreak are 65 and over.

Hospitalisations are down overall, after a number of patients were discharged over the weekend.

In terms of vaccinations, 87 percent of eligible Kiwis have had their first dose.
