This year's Christmas spread could cost a bit more to put on tomorrow

This year's Christmas spread could cost a bit more to put on tomorrow

MYOB polling shows the average food and drink budget is $415, with food costing 4.4 percent more than a year ago.

Cabbage, bread and kiwifruit for the pav - have all got a lot more expensive in the past year.

Shoppers will also feel the pain paying for noticeably more expensive beef steak, lamb chops, butter, tomatoes, potatoes, beef mince, milk, cheese, broccoli, eggs and sausages.

Snack food and soft drinks have barely gone up - and rice, mushrooms, lettuce and carrots should all be cheaper.
