A police officer who tasered a man who was on the ground has fallen foul of the police watchdog

A police officer who tasered a man who was on the ground has fallen foul of the police watchdog

It happened during a disturbance at a Picton house in June last year.

A pair of police officers had told five men causing the problems to leave, when one started 'shadow boxing' and running between them.

He was tasered once, then stunned again while lying on his back on the ground - although still moving.

The officer said he believed the man still posed a risk to his safety.

The Independent Police Conduct Authority says the first use of the taser was fine, but the second was disproportionate and unreasonable.
