A neurosurgeon's been asked to apologise for performing brain surgery... in the wrong place

A neurosurgeon's been asked to apologise for performing brain surgery... in the wrong place

The neurosurgeon was removing cancer from a man's brain... using a guidance machine and markings on the man's skin.

However, once the initial incision was made, it became apparent the guidance machine was inaccurate... and the markings had washed off.

The neurosurgeon then extended the bone opening into what he thought was the correct area... but it was not.

Health and Disability Commissioner Anthony Hill says the neurosurgeon breached the Code of Health and should have undertaken further checks.
