    An Auckland mother's been sentenced to home detention - over her two-year old daughter's death


    Tyson Brown killed toddler Arapera Fia in a South Auckland home during the 2021 Covid lockdown.

    He was sentenced to life in jail last year.

    His girlfriend and the child's mother - Nikitalove Tekotia - pleaded guilty to to manslaughter last year - and has been handed 12-months home detention.

    The court found she didn't properly protect the two-year-old - resulting in her death.
