The Minister of Education wants to challenge a landmark Employment Court ruling

The Minister of Education wants to challenge a landmark Employment Court ruling

Late last year, Kath and Ron Cronin-Lampe were awarded almost 1.8-million-dollars in damages for workplace stress as counsellors at Hamilton's Melville High School.

The couple worked there for 16 and 15 years respectively, where they dealt with 32 deaths - including suicides, fatal car crashes and murder.

Open Justice reports the judgment was one of two by the Employment Court, and the minister is seeking leave to appeal the second decision.

They claim there were mistakes made by the judge in the lower court, when finding the school's breaches were the material cause of the couple's PTSD.
