An investigation is underway in Northland's Mangawhai, after a series of burglaries overnight

Police first received a report just after 1am of offenders who attempted to break into a store on Wood Street, but failed.

Shortly afterwards a vehicle was used to break into the second store, with cash and other items taken.

Two more stores were then broken into.

Police later located a vehicle, which has since been towed for examination, and the search for the offenders continues.
