    A new trial date's been set for Stephen Stone - whose murder and rape convictions have been quashed


    Stone was imprisoned 25 years ago, convicted of murdering Auckland tyre fitter Deane Fuller-Sandys , and raping and murdering Leah Stephens.

    This month, the Court of Appeal quashed his convictions and ordered a retrial - now set for February 2026.

    Gail Maney was also acquitted of ordering Fuller-Sandys' killing in 1989 - and two others convicted of being accessories.

    The Crown will confirm if it intends to pursue the retrial, at a hearing in December.
