Philip Polkinghorne will return to the High Court in Auckland today - more than a month after his murder acquittal

The retired eye surgeon was found not guilty of murdering his wife Pauline Hanna, in a high-profile, eight week trial.

At the start of the trial, Polkinghorne admitted to possessing the 27-grams of methamphetamine and meth pipe found in his Remuera home.

He's set to be sentenced on those charges at 9am.
