Police say the public have no need to be concerned following a fatal shooting in Lower Hutt's Naenae yesterday

A homicide investigation's been launched after a man died, shortly after being found injured on Seddon Street around 3pm.

Police are looking for a man about 30-years-old with a large build and full facial tattoos.

Detective Inspector John Van Den Heuvel says the shooting was an isolated event between two parties known to one-another.

He says the suspect shouldn't be approached, but also believes there is no wider risk to the community.
