    A Palmerston North man has been sentenced to more than a year's home detention for beating two puppies with a fence baton, breaking multiple bones


    Neighbours describe hearing King and Hunnie, crying after being hit many times - before calling the SPCA.

    SPCA CEO Todd Westwood says vets found broken legs, pelvis, and thigh bones - as well as bruising.

    He says they're thankful the brave member of the public called for help.

    The owner has been disqualified from owning a dog for 7-years
