The founder of insolvent Auckland property group Du Val has been briefly detained outside his home in Auckland's Remuera, after an altercation with a photographer

Kenyon Clarke has told Business Desk the altercation, late yesterday, involved a man who was attempting to photograph him and his family.

Police say they responded to a disorder incident, but there are no reported injuries, and one person was taken into custody, but has since been released without charge.

In August, the Government took the rare step of placing Du Val in statutory management.
