A 32 year old man who murdered a teen after she wore his T-shirt, has been jailed for life with 12 years non parole

Jimmy Heremaia pleaded guilty to 18-year-old Ariki Rigby's death, killing her with two hammer blows to the head after an argument over her wearing his Mongrel Mob shirt.

Her body was found in a burnt out car in Hawke's Bay in September 2022.

According to documents, the Crown believes Heremaia didn't mention his crime until he unwittingly told an undercover police officer two years later

In court today, Rigby's father told her murderer he forgave him.
